Club's big investment in new drainage

During the last few weeks, the Otters' management has continued its far-sighted policy of investing in the Club's facilities.

A major project of laying new drains for the two main pitches went off without a hitch and the playing areas are now recovering to be ready for the hoped-for restart of rugby.

Club chairman, Robert Lewis said "We have a long history of continuously improving our facilities and the laying of these new drains is vitally important.

"We get lots of rain in west Wales and those old enough to remember the 1960s and before will recall the quagmire we had to play on here but over the years things have got much better. This new work should bring another huge improvement.

"It is always disappointing and disruptive for players and supporters alike when games have to be called off because of a waterlogged pitch and we are doing all we can to minimise that risk. This is especially so in the WRU Championship where most of our opposing teams have long distances to travel for matches here," he added.

"The Otters like to play open, expansive rugby - and our supporters demand it of us - and the best playing surface we can produce will help us to maintain this tradition," said Mr Lewis.
